Privacy and Terms of Use

Guestbooks uses cookies to track who you are in the /admin pages, to know which guestbooks you own and prevent you from editing other users' data. We don't share this cookie information with any other sites. We store your account name, a password hash, and any account email address you provide for verification, notifications, and password recovery. We also store your guestbook settings and visitors' messages, names, and optional website addresses. Messages and website addresses become public when approved. We do not sell personal data. By using the service you agree to cookies being used and this information being stored to provide the service.

A guestbook owner can choose to collect optional visitor email addresses. These addresses are shown only in the owner's authenticated dashboard, not in public guestbook pages, public APIs, or notification emails. Leaving an address does not verify it or subscribe the visitor to notifications. The owner can use their own email application to reply.

Private email addresses are stored in the service database and may be included in backups; they are not encrypted from the hosting operator. Turning off collection stops saving new addresses but does not remove previously collected ones. Message deletion uses soft deletion, so data can remain in the database and backups until removed by the operator.
